Prioritizing Safety First with Our ADA Bathroom Remodel
Capital Bathroom Remodeling always puts our client’s safety first. We have an in-depth knowledge in meeting accessibility standards in South Florida and years of experience building certified ADA bathroom remodels. Here are the requirements we follow:
Toilets need to be 16-18 inches from the wall and 17-19 inches from the floor.
Sinks must be at least 34 inches from the floor with 27 inches of knee clearance.
Grab bars need to be mounted on the walls behind and beside the toilet.
Capital Bathroom Remodeling has a team of qualified and skilled designers, contractors, and more who are ready and able to tackle any size, style, or complexity of the project. Our accessible bathroom remodeling services include the following:
Accessible Shower
We build barrier-free accessible showers that are customized with your choice of materials and finishes. These showers eliminate tripping hazards and allow wheelchairs to move in and out of the shower with ease. Additional accessible shower features include: grab bars, widened doorways, larger width, handheld shower heads, shower seating.
In addition to modernizing your bathroom, walk-in showers are safer and easier to access than regular showers. The entry way is free of doors and has a low or no threshold. ADA walk-in shower requirements include: maximum threshold height of ½ an inch above the floor, grab bars across from shower seating and/or along the back shower wall.
Barrier-free showers have unobstructed entryways, faucets, seating, and controls. According to ADA standards, the outside clearance of a barrier-free shower requires a minimum width and length of 36 inches by 48 inches. The seating must also be able to hold at least 250lbs of both vertical and horizontal force.
A roll-in shower is designed specifically for people using wheelchairs. These showers require the space and compartments for wheelchair mobility aids such as folding shower chairs. The width of the shower and the clearance area must be at least 60 inches. The depth of the shower’s interior and adjacent clearance needs to be a minimum of 30 inches each.
Walk-in tubs are an excellent alternative to walk-in showers. You may also opt to have both a walk-in tub and walk-in shower installed. A walk-in bath has a water sealed door that opens up to the inside. There is typically seating on one side of the bath and a handheld shower head for enhanced accessibility.
